I'm a 25 year old, wife, daughter, and puppy mommy. I have a masters degree in Communication Studies from the University of North Texas and teach Public Speaking classes at a local community college. For the last 7 years I have lived in the DFW metroplex.
My husband, Sarge, spent the first year of our marriage in Iraq with his reserve unit of the US Army. To keep me company, we found our wonderful furbaby, Bella Mia. I spent the year taking pictures of her and longing for more pictures of Sarge. He spent the year wanting more pictures of me. When he came home, I booked a session with a high school friend. That session lead me in a photographic direction I never expected.
Before that session, I considered photography in a studio sense. I had never been part of an on location shoot and any photographers I knew only did them in special circumstances. That opened up a new world of thought to me, but at the time, I never considered being a photographer.
That fall, I became very interested in photo editing with Photoshop. I began to hone my skills and learn different aspects of a great photograph. The more I learned, the more I realized that good photographs started in camera and you can only get so far with editing software alone. That lead me on a path of learning about cameras. At Christmas, I had the opportunity to purchase a used SLR. I jumped at the chance and began a long journey of understanding my equipment.
That journey has lead me here, with my own photography business. In the beginning, I decided to cast a wide net with the direction of my business. Over time, I began to refine the type of photography that I love the most. Portraiture has always been my favorite. I love the connection to the people in the photograph. I love showing connections between subjects, as well as between me and the subject. Those relationships are key to creating images of art.
It's also important to me to capture memories. I want to capture the moments in life that pass by. I love to capture families as they change over the years, and I dearly love capturing newborns in their first days. Recording those special moments in an image is a very special task for me. I take my roll very seriously and I do everything I can to save those moments for you.
